Facebook Overview

Description: Facebook started out as a college student-only social network. Facebook is similar to MySpace as it allows people to upload content such as videos or personal profiles. Wildly popular with young people, and now over 50% of the members are over 40 years old!

Facebook Overview
Facebook has now been a social networking website for awhile now, but what most people don't know is that Facebook started out just for college students to interact. As college students starting passing the word around it became one of the most popular websites on the internet. Facebook saw the potential and opened membership up to everyone so now millions of people around the world use Facebook as a means to socialize. Apart from meeting and socializing with people there is a lot more that you're capable of doing on Facebook and more new features are added everyday. Facebook has a very modern and sleek looking template that is very easy to navigate through which is one reason it's become so popular over time. A lot of people that use social networks aren't very knowledgeable when it comes to navigating a computer screen, but Facebook does its best to make the user experience enjoyable.

Great for meeting people
Amazing Applications

+ a lot more
Friends and family can all get together in one place and talk on Facebook which makes it really cool and one of the best ways families can keep in touch with each other. The news feed that displays as your homepage once you sign-in to your profile is where the magic happens. You can view all the new things happening on your friends and families profile from one direct interface which makes keeping up with all the gossip as easy as reading one page.
There are many settings that can be chosen when setting up your profile which limits the people who will be able to see your profile. If you only want your friends and family to be able to view your profile then you're able to choose that setting. This will make your profile guarded and also everything on your profile including your pictures. For safety and security reasons it's best to have your profile on limited status so that only friends can see it, as there is no reason for any strangers to be looking at your profile.

When you join Facebook you also join what's called a network, you can join multiple networks as well and what it does is allows people from the same network to find your profile easier. Networks consist of cities, countries and even schools. So there is always a network that you can join and then anyone else from the network will be able to view your profile easier. It's great for finding old school mates simply because you can search through any school network so as long as the person joined the network you'll be able to find them on Facebook.

Facebook Marketing Success Tips

Sometimes we take the most obvious things for granted without taking a second look.  This definitely holds true when it comes to the fundamentals of marketing your business.  When starting a new business, you probably are thinking about the best marketing techniques you can do at the lowest cost. Before you think about that, though, you might want to stop and ask yourself what the definition of marketing is.

Marketing is about establishing a more mutually beneficial relationship with your customers and potential customers than the one they develop with your competitors. Marketing is about creating relationships. That's what you have to think about before beginning your marketing strategy.  You will want to think about your niche, who belongs to that niche and how best to communicate with them. Use the KLT marketing factor of "Know, Like and Trust" to get more customers to buy from you.
There are different forms of marketing, but when creating a strategy you have to think about managing each one appropriately.   One very effective marketing method is the use of Facebook.   Facebook is a prominent modern method of establishing relationships.  If you want to make a lot of friends; if you want to create relationships with a lot of people; if you want to reach and have an impact on a huge audience, Facebook is a one-stop-shop for doing so.
Let's talk about statistics:  There are more than 500 million active users on Facebook and 50% of active Facebook users log on to Facebook in any given day, people spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook. There are over 900 million objects with which people interact (pages, groups, events and community pages); the average user is connected to 80 community pages, groups and events; more than one million websites have integrated with the Facebook platform. There are more than 150 million people that engage with Facebook on external websites every month; and, two thirds of comScore's US Top 100 websites and half of comScore's global top 100 websites have integrated with Facebook.
Those are impressive statistics and are indicative of the fact that Facebook, if used properly, can enable any business to reach out and touch a lot of people.  Depending on your niche, you and your business could potentially influence a large percentage of those 500 million users, 250 million of them who log on to Facebook on any given day.  That makes social networking a very valuable tool in creating relationships and marketing your business.  There are a few things to think about before jumping in, because you're not the first business to use Facebook as a marketing tool.  In fact, you'll have some tough competition.
To establish good relationships, you have to establish trust, which is the foundation of all good relationships.  You want to know your community and learn to effectively communicate with them.  You don't want to do heavy sales.  Facebook is not the appropriate venue for aggressive sales.  You have to remember that you are establishing relationships.  To talk to your niche you have to show and have respect for that community.  You will want to adjust your message to your audience.  Remember, not all audiences are created alike.

Facebook can be a very valuable part of your marketing strategy, but your strategy has to be implemented with a personalized touch.  You can't be a company on Facebook, you want to be a friend.  Once your relationship is established you can ease recommendations into your posts and communications.
There are many marketing strategies and to be a successful business, you'll have to implement a multitude of them to be successful. Facebook is an incredibly useful tool, but your energy used there will be wasted if you don't nurture and develop relationships. The type of relationships you're trying to create through social networking are different, so copying and pasting other marketing techniques is not an effective strategy.

Difference Between Facebook Page & Group

Why do I need a page? - If you are a small business or a small but well known brand or a public figure or an expert on something people are looking out for then you need a communication platform with your audience or clients where you have many sub platforms and the incoming traffic to it has no permits to be given out. You need to be located by all and sundry in your market and they could get in touch with you or your brand on search engines, Facebook, common interest, or even topic of conversation. You need to offer them in your sub platforms within the same mother platform information of your brand, offers, products, discussions, videos, photos, reviews, polls / surveys, events, application for smartphone downloads, instant customer relation management, FAQs and anything under the sun that otherwise your website or your sales team or publicist or customer service could have offered on a one to one basis. You must go "WOW, if I could have all that on Facebook and have Facebook too" and you would be right in wanting that. What you or your brand needs is a Facebook Page. It is the only answer to all those fancy and basics mentioned above. With a Facebook page you not only get immediate access to your customers but also become a brand personality which is recognized and solicited for its advice.
Why do I need a group? If you are a community or a group or club where you share common interest with others and would like to keep communication real time about the group initiatives, activities, events, recent photos and videos where the members can access this information for their benefit or fun, you need to start a Facebook group. While groups are managed by the creator and admins they are very reflective of these administrators and require permission to be let into the group. So it is for a select few and not meant to have a outreach to whosoever wants to be a part of it. This one is definitely a No-No for a small business or a brand or a public figure or whoever wants to head in these directions. I'll tell you that groups are great for anyone who has or wants to begin a community with a specific interest. Who wants to share information and activities within a closed circuit. Maybe a group of XYZ Fashionistas in your neighborhood or learn art for your heart or Salsa dance workshops are great fun or lets give 10% of our income to save child abuse et cetera. Groups do not get picked up on search engines nor can you join them without the admission of the administrator. Upto 5000 members the admin of the group can send off an email type of a blast update to all the members which is easy updation for all. Of course even the news feeds include all updates in the group but then same is true for pages too. So gist of going in for a group is if you are aiming at a very specific known community or interests to share personal thoughts and concerns or information to a closed circuit not general public. Groups do not give you added advantage of application and multiple tabs on them the kinds that pages do.
Can I have both? Yes!!! Some brands / business/ personalities have pages which are specific to their message for their brand and then diversify with a community which is included in the page in the form of a group. But believe me only if you know your purpose for this go ahead and do it or else just keep life simple as it should be.

Page Advantage - Seen on searches, linked with the Like button all over the web (100,000 sites have the button for a good reason right?), Your fans friends know about your brand by the best source of publicity 'Word of Mouth' when they like your page or they communicate with your brand or review your brand anywhere on Facebook. Even news an articles now have the Like button for brands which is updated on Facebook news feed the moment someone clicks on it or reviews your page. Pages can be promoted through advertisements on search engines and Facebook (revenue is what Facebook was after when they brought out pages). Pages can be treated as a mini website that isn't static but interactive and is indexed. Do you need anything else to be famous online?

Learn to Make Money Over Facebook

If you want to learn to make money over Facebook then there are a number of techniques which will help you do so. First of all though I would like to make it clear, you are onto something special if you want to make money over Facebook. Facebook is a virtual goldmine when it comes to making money online and as a result it has been one of the internet marketing undergrounds best kept secrets of 2010. In this article I am going to teach you about a method which will demonstrate for you the viral power that Facebook has to drive significant amounts of traffic in very short periods of time.
I first learnt about using Facebook to make money online when I was searching through my Facebook News Feed. I saw that a friend of mine had joined a Facebook fan page which was quite a funny topic, curious I clicked through to have a look and saw that the fan page had gathered over 100 thousand fans within just a short 24 hours since it began. Over the next week I witnessed the fan page shoot virally to the stage where it had over 1 million fans within 5 days. I was astonished and decided that I would focus on how I could have this same impact for fan pages in my internet business that I created.
Facebook pages are the most viral median online right now, internet marketing is a buzz with all the possibilities which Facebook has opened up for marketers to use them. There is a good reason why they are viral as well which I will describe below.
One Facebook each person when they sign up for an account is given their own independent network which they have the ability to add to when they become Facebook friends with someone. Everyone has also a profile page where friends of theirs can visit to see all of their individual public interactions over Facebook. When one of their friends joins a Facebook page, this action is shown to them in their Facebook news feed giving them the opportunity to do the same. If they then decide to also join the Facebook fan page all of their friends see this action on their Facebook pages also and so on.

From the perspective of the Facebook page owner this is great because their page is growing without any work from them. As a result of having fans join their fan page they then get the ability to have their fan page shown on all the news feeds of that groups fans. This in turn means that the Facebook page owner can have influence over all of those who has joined their fan page to either direct them to a website or make money from them through an offer.
This is the real power of using Facebook fan pages to virally influence others in a big way. There are a number of other techniques to grow fan pages virally and make money from them. If you would like to find out about these methods then you can download Sam Bakker's new Facebook Ebook at his website about internet business.

How to Use Facebook Mobile

Do you know how to use Facebook mobile? If you just want to read your friends' status updates, all you really need to do is log in to the mobile version of Facebook on your cell phone. To do this, go tottp://m.facebook.com and use your regular user name and password to log in. This version doesn't have as many features as the standard site, but you will still be able to keep up with what your friends are doing.

Are you ready to learn how to update your status message using your phone? You can do this user the mobile browser, but there is a much easier way. You can text your status update to Facebook. To do this, send a text message to 32665 that starts with the @ symbol. For example, you could update your status to "is at Kelly's party" by texting "@ is at Kelly's party" to 32665.
Would you like to learn how to post a picture on Facebook from your cell phone? In order to upload a photo from your cell phone, you need to be using either an iPhone or a cell phone with multimedia message service (MMS) capability. If your phone has the capability, you can post a photo by e-mailing it to mobile@facebook.com. The first time you do this, you will receive a text message with a confirmation code. You need to go to the applications menu and click on "mobile" then look for the "uploads" section and find the link to enter the confirmation code. Once you have entered the code, your phone is set up to upload photos and you won't need to enter it again.

Is there anything else you'd like to do from your cell phone? Now that you know how to update your status message and upload photos, you've pretty much got the basics covered. If you get bored with that, you can learn how to upload videos, search for new friends and check to see what's happening in your groups.
